General Electric’s GE9X will take the Boeing 777X into the air. The GE9X is based on the proven GE90 and GEnx architecture and is currently under development. It combines the latest materials and technologies and will set new standards in terms of efficiency: In terms of fuel consumption to thrust ratio, it is said to be the best engine GE has ever launched. Compared with its predecessor, the GE90-115B, fuel consumption is to be reduced by ten percent, and CO2, NOx and noise emissions will also be significantly lower. It first ran on the ground in April 2016 and first flew on March 13, 2018.
