One last McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is registered in Europe. It bears the registration D-ALCC, is 23 years old and flies for Lufthansa Cargo. But it won’t be for long either. Its last landing in Frankfurt was scheduled for Oct. 15. The aircraft has already been sold and will go to the USA.
For its last two weeks of service, the MD-11 received a farewell livery. “Lufthansa Cargo thanks the D-ALCC for more than 23 years of loyal service and sends it on its last rounds to Cairo, Tel Aviv, Chicago and New York with the greeting ‘Farewell’ and ‘Thank you, MD-11’ and on its fuselage,” the cargo airline wrote.
